The Art of Julia – FS77 ArtyStamper – ssnotime45 Christmas in July

I know I’ve been AWOL for awhile and it’s good to be back, even if for just a few hours today.  We made our almost final move from Nashville to Jackson over the weekend so the house, once again, is full of boxes to unpack.  I am also hosting a bridal shower for my niece in two weeks- so there is a real reason to get most of the unpacking done quickly and put the house in order.  But,

I just had to participate in the Featured Stamper challenge this week.  Julia, aka artystamper, has long been one of my favorites.  Her gallery is awesome and she has been so supportive of me and always leaves such encouraging comments.  Here is the card I chose to case.  I changed the image and colors and used my Cuttlebug instead of the awesome scoring she has on her card.  I also decided to start on my Christmas cards and want to keep them simple so I won’t get overwhelmed, so this card also fits with Sharon’s (notimetostamp) Stamp Simply challenge last week.  Take a minute and browse through Julia’s gallery and Sharon’s blog– you will really be inspired.

Supplies:  Paper- PTI White, Real Red, Certainly Celery; Stamps- Petal Prints, PTI Believe; Ink- Real Red, Certainly Celery; Accessories- Cuttlebug Swiss Dots EF, SU! Markers, Making Memories green grosgrain ribbon, dimensionals.

Blessings to you,  Diane

A Gift from Judy – Joy In A Jar

And Joy it was- Judy has a wonderful blog called Joy In a Jar with beautiful creations and great stories.  She has recently been selected as a Guest Designer for Our Daily Bread Designs – congrats Judy! She inspires and encourages me with her sweet comments here on my little space in cyberworld.  And last week she honored me with this award- my very first and it just made my day.  Thank you Judy for being so sweet.  Take a minute and visit her world- you won’t be disappointed!

Blessings, Diane

Cowboy Get Well – Dirty Dare Challenge – DTGD08Michelle

I love staying home and cooking, stamping and all that other homemaker stuff, but, unfortunately, I do have to get “out there” every now and then and run a few errands, do a little shopping and all that jazz.  So, I’ve been out in the heat all day hoping the predicted ran would come and cool things off.  I was looking forward to getting wet!  But, alas, we only got a brief shower.

The good news is that when I got home I checked the Dirty Challenge for today so I could get back to the important things.  Michelle (aka sf9erfan) is our Dirty Girl challenge hostess for Tuesday and again I am delighted with her challenge choice- to make a masculine card.   I love nautical, wildlife and western stamps so the “man” cards are fast becoming my favorites.  Today I used a cute little cowboy stamp called Bronc Rider made by Stampabilities.  I stamped the image in Versamark three times, then overstamped one of the images in Always Artichoke.  I love this shadow effect.  You can see the rest of today’s creations here.

Supplies: Stamps- Sincere Salutations, Stampabilities Bronc Rider; Paper- Kraft, Chocolate Chip, River Rock, Basic Grey Urban Couture; Ink- Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke; Accessories- Versamark, Copper brads, Burgundy twine, CB Embossing Folder, Ticket corner punch, Dimensionals.

It’s All About the Ribbon – Dirty Challenge – DTGD08Jody

This is Fan Club week on Splitcoast Stampers Community and the Dirty Girls- those awesome leaders, past and present, are hosting challenges everyday using some of their favorite stamping items and techniques.  Today Jody Morrow, aka texasjodylynn, who is also the ribbon guru has challenged us to “Get Dirty” with ribbon.  I LOVE ribbon and jumped at the chance to use a bit of wide grosgrain ribbon that I got recently at Hancock’s.  I loved it so much that I bought the whole roll!  Here’s the challenge gallery.

The card had to be pretty simple since the ribbon commands so much attention and I am very pleased with the result.  This will go to my best friend since high school for her 60th birthday on August 3rd.

Supplies:  Stamps-Time Well Spent, MFT How Sweet It Is; Paper-Pixie Pink, Green Galore, Purely Pomegrante and Whisper White; Ink- Whisper White Craft, Basic Black; Accessories- CB Floral Fantasy EF, CB star circle die, Hancock ribbon, Bazill brads, Circle and Scallop circle punches, Signo White gel pen, Dimensionals.

I hope your week is off to a great start!

Blessings, Diane

Susie Sets Sail – FS76 Susiestampalot

Today’s Featured Stamper is Susiestampalot and her gallery is awesome!!!  I had a hard time choosing a card to case because all of her creations are terrific.  I chose this card and decided to use my newly acquired Set Sail  that I have been stalking on eBay for a couple of months.  I changed the colors, stamps and sentiment, but tried to keep the basic sketch and flavor of the original the same.

We got up earlier than usual today so we could watch Greg Norman in the British Open for a couple of hours before church so I had a little extra time to work on the challenge.  I sure hope everyone is having a great weekend and staying cool.

Supplies: Stamps-Set Sail, Weathered BG, MFT Boho Blossoms sentiment; Paper- Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, Whisper White, Basic Grey DP; Ink- Blue Bayou, Soft Sky; Accessories-Twine (I raided my dad’s stash of twine he uses to tie up his tomatoes), Antique Brass eyelet, Dimensionals, Sanding block.

Sending My Love – LSC177

Sending My Love Front View
Sending My Love Z Fold View
Sending My Love Z-fold View

I haven’t spent this long making a card in months!  The Limited Supply Challenge today was to make a card with a unique fold.  I pulled out my templates, chose a couple and did some cutting.  Didn’t like it, so after an hour, started all over again and chose this cute Z-fold that I have been playing with for some time.  I also wanted to use Tart and Tangy and Summer Picnic again to cheer me up.  And, why did I need cheering up?  Well, the sale on our house that we were so excited about fell through today.  Boo-hoo………so, we are starting all over again.  But, I know that the Lord will find another buyer for us and everthing will be fine and dandy.

I LOVE this card and love this fold.  It may be a little hard to figure out, but it opens with the little flap on the front and also to the inside.  I added some journaling lines to the inside for a personal note.

Supplies:  Stamps: Tart and Tangy, Just Journaling 1,  Michael’s $1 sentiment; Old Olive, Bashful Blue, Real Red and Whisper White cardstock; Summer Picnic DSP; Basic Black ink, Cuttlebug EF (back front flap you can’t see in the photos), Old Olive ribbon, Signo White Gel pen, Ultrafine glitter, Scallop circle punch, other circle punches, SU! markers, Slit punch (for scallops), Silver HPH, Dimensionals, Glue pen.

Thanks everyone- it’s great to know you are all out there………, get ready, new season of Monk begins tonight, or you can go catch Mamma Mia at the cinema.  Whatever you do, have a wonderful weekend.

Painted Lady CC175 SC185- We sold our house!!!

I have missed all of you these last couple of weeks.  We have been busy, busy, busy.  Our son and daughter-in-law were here for the 4th and we had a birthday celebration for DIL Jennifer and all the family came.  What fun we had.  Our son is going to sing at niece Jill’s wedding next month and he gave us a little preview of the wedding songs, then entertained us with jokes and music – it was just grand.

Last week we went out of town for a couple of days, then to Nashville to pack up more furniture and stuff, and hurried to finish before a showing on Saturday afternoon.  Then, finally the call we’ve been waiting for- an offer on our home.  After a couple of days negotiating and super advice from our awesome realtors, we struck a deal.  So, we will be going back next week and finish packing up and close the end of the month.  Woo-hoo!

I combined the Color and Sketch challenge for my first upload since the 1st of the month.  And, my Boards and Beams set from PTI arrived the day our deal was signed, so how appropriate to use one of the house images for my card.  I love the sketch and colors and am very pleased with the end result.  I will be sending this card as a thank you to our realtors.

Supplies: Wild Wasabi, Almost Amethyst, So Saffron, Whisper White  cardstock; Wild Wasabi Prints Pack DSP; Chocolate Chip Ink; Almost Amethyst and So Saffron SU! Markers; Ticket Corner Punch; Wild Wasabi ribbon; Cuttlebug EF; Silver brads and frame; Dimensionals.

I hope July is going great for all of you!
