This is Day One for the 12 Days to Christmas contest at Paper Craft Planet, a new hip and fast growing site for paper lovers.  Today our PCP creations were to include a bird or a tree- partridge in a pear tree, get it?  And the SCS IC challenge included some wonderful papers at Whimsy Press that complimented the sketch.  So I did a sorta rerun of a favorite sketch using one of my fave SU! sets- Always and created another unique Christmas card.  My bird looks like another recent card, but I loved it so I just had to use it again.

Today’s Inspiration Challenge was inspired by my good friend LeisaJane who created this card based on Rose’s dress from the blockbuster movie “Titanic.” Todays’ challenge was to created a card that is inspired by a dress from a movie. I chose Scarlett’s barbeque dress from “Gone With the Wind”, my favorite movie of all time. Isn’t she a pistol in this picture? This Southern belle really had a mind of her own, didn’t she?

I really had a mess on my desk before I finished this card- because it took on a life of its own and the finished product looks nothing like I had in mind when I began.

I didn’t have any velvet or dark green ribbon, so I colored white satin ribbon with my Garden Green marker and when I got up from my desk to get the hardware, the Afternoon Tea DP caught my eye, so I rearranged everything again. It’s a miracle I finished, but I wanted to be sure and play in honor of LeisaJane and her great idea.

Supplies: Garden Green, Whisper White cardstock; Afternoon Tea DSP, Watercolor Minis and Always Stamp sets, Garden Green, Wild Wasabi ink, Silver Hodgepodge Hardware, White satin ribbon colored green, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots EF, SU! Marker.

It’s a beautiful day here in Tennessee today- hope you are enjoying the same in your little corner of the world!

Blessings,

Diane

What a wonderful time I had this week visiting with my stampin’ friends! I wanted to make some special thank you’s for our hostesses, so gals, these are coming your way this week. Cleo could run a fancy bed and breakfast. Her home is absolutely gorgeous- her sense of interior design is awesome. Beautiful surroundings with flowers, birds, squirrels and even raccoons! I had a wonderful time visiting with her and waking up to a big country breakfast. Her daughter Leisa, my great friend Lisa and her mom Joanne came over for this great meal and our fun started all over again! We then went to Leisa’s awesome home in the woods and stamped, ate and giggled like little girls all day long. It was truly a trip I will remember and cherish for many years to come.

I dug out these cute Mary Engelbreit stamps from my stash and then today’s IC (Inspiration Challenge) gave me inspiration for the colors and designer paper. I colored the images with Prismacolor pencils and it was quite time-consuming but I really like the finished product. Here are the candles that inspired my colors:
