WSC93 Trendy Forest Friend

August 14, 2009

It’s Friday!  Weekend on the way!  Even though I am retired and now a full-time homemaker, I still look forward to the weekends.  I am always excited about the Sunday morning message and having the freedom to worship our Savior without penalty or threat.  Our God is an awesome God, He reigns!!!

I am just crazy about these two stamp sets from Stampin’ Up!- Trendy Trees and Forest Friends.  They are among the least expensive sets, but I knew right away they would get a lot of inkin’ from me.  This card is for Beate’s Fresh and Fun Weekend Sketch Challenge and I chose to use  four of the new In Colors.  I didn’t think much of the colors until I made a few cards and now I think they are terrific.  Soft Suede is a real keeper and Bermuda Bay- yumm, yumm!

It’s another very pretty day here and I am really enjoying the sunshine coming through the window in my craft room.  We are getting ready to go out of town for a couple of days to celebrate my 61st birthday.  I plan to eat “large” and maybe visit my favorite LSS in Memphis.  I must admit I can’t believe I am in my 60’s, but I thank God for every day that he has blessed me with.  I hope I have many more days to grow in His wisdom and grace.

Today’s SCS Color Challenge is very interesting:  Kraft, Riding Hood Red, Summer Sun and Black (Optional).  They didn’t sound very appealing at first, but do make for a pretty combo.  My new to me  Boatloads of Love set called out for ink and I had fun putting this together.  Hope you like it!

Many Blessings,

Good morning and praise God for the glorious sunshine here in West Tennessee.  Today’s Featured Stamper on SCS is Jami, aka SgtStamper, and you must take a look at her gallery here.  You will be amazed at the gorgeous creations.  I chose this card as my inspiration and changed a few things- paper, images and colors.   Jami’s card gives you such a warm and fuzzy feeling and I hope my friend will feel that way when she gets my card.

What a strange title!  It’s the color combo challenge for today on SCS and I added the “Sweet” to go with this cute, cute and yummy image from Great Impressions.  The colors are Brilliant Blue, Pumpkin Pie and Garden Green.  I love the green and pumpkin together and managed to work in the blue to comply with the challenge.  I love Brilliant Blue, but adding it to the other two colors really WAS a challenge.  Check out today’s great challenge creations on SCS here.

fs92-wendys-friends-007Wendy Bell is the Featured Stamper for the week and what a marvelous gallery she has.  You can see it here.  I chose to case this card and didn’t come close to her lovely creation.  I did enjoy using my new Scallop square punch for the first time and that pretty, pretty Bella Rose DSP from Stampin’ Up.

I am still under the weather and will probably go to the doctor tomorrow if I still feel lousy.  I slept all day yesterday and am getting ready to watch Peyton with hubby.  Maybe I can stay awake for a little while.

Anyway, big, big congrats to Wendy Bell!!!  What an honor and so well deserved.

This is Fan Club week on Splitcoast Stampers Community and the Dirty Girls- those awesome leaders, past and present, are hosting challenges everyday using some of their favorite stamping items and techniques.  Today Jody Morrow, aka texasjodylynn, who is also the ribbon guru has challenged us to “Get Dirty” with ribbon.  I LOVE ribbon and jumped at the chance to use a bit of wide grosgrain ribbon that I got recently at Hancock’s.  I loved it so much that I bought the whole roll!  Here’s the challenge gallery.

The card had to be pretty simple since the ribbon commands so much attention and I am very pleased with the result.  This will go to my best friend since high school for her 60th birthday on August 3rd.

Supplies:  Stamps-Time Well Spent, MFT How Sweet It Is; Paper-Pixie Pink, Green Galore, Purely Pomegrante and Whisper White; Ink- Whisper White Craft, Basic Black; Accessories- CB Floral Fantasy EF, CB star circle die, Hancock ribbon, Bazill brads, Circle and Scallop circle punches, Signo White gel pen, Dimensionals.

I hope your week is off to a great start!

Blessings, Diane

Today’s Featured Stamper is Susiestampalot and her gallery is awesome!!!  I had a hard time choosing a card to case because all of her creations are terrific.  I chose this card and decided to use my newly acquired Set Sail  that I have been stalking on eBay for a couple of months.  I changed the colors, stamps and sentiment, but tried to keep the basic sketch and flavor of the original the same.

We got up earlier than usual today so we could watch Greg Norman in the British Open for a couple of hours before church so I had a little extra time to work on the challenge.  I sure hope everyone is having a great weekend and staying cool.

Supplies: Stamps-Set Sail, Weathered BG, MFT Boho Blossoms sentiment; Paper- Soft Sky, Blue Bayou, Whisper White, Basic Grey DP; Ink- Blue Bayou, Soft Sky; Accessories-Twine (I raided my dad’s stash of twine he uses to tie up his tomatoes), Antique Brass eyelet, Dimensionals, Sanding block.

Blessings,

Diane

I haven’t spent this long making a card in months!  The Limited Supply Challenge today was to make a card with a unique fold.  I pulled out my templates, chose a couple and did some cutting.  Didn’t like it, so after an hour, started all over again and chose this cute Z-fold that I have been playing with for some time.  I also wanted to use Tart and Tangy and Summer Picnic again to cheer me up.  And, why did I need cheering up?  Well, the sale on our house that we were so excited about fell through today.  Boo-hoo………so, we are starting all over again.  But, I know that the Lord will find another buyer for us and everthing will be fine and dandy.

I LOVE this card and love this fold.  It may be a little hard to figure out, but it opens with the little flap on the front and also to the inside.  I added some journaling lines to the inside for a personal note.

Supplies:  Stamps: Tart and Tangy, Just Journaling 1,  Michael’s $1 sentiment; Old Olive, Bashful Blue, Real Red and Whisper White cardstock; Summer Picnic DSP; Basic Black ink, Cuttlebug EF (back front flap you can’t see in the photos), Old Olive ribbon, Signo White Gel pen, Ultrafine glitter, Scallop circle punch, other circle punches, SU! markers, Slit punch (for scallops), Silver HPH, Dimensionals, Glue pen.

Thanks everyone- it’s great to know you are all out there………..now, get ready, new season of Monk begins tonight, or you can go catch Mamma Mia at the cinema.  Whatever you do, have a wonderful weekend.

Blessings,

Diane

Today’s Ways to Use It challenge is to use birds on our cards and since I love, love my Birds Galore set by Inkadindado I decided to put a little ink on this cute owl, use one of my favorite sketches and more black and white designer paper from Imaginisce. And, decided to finally break open my Papertrey Ink cardstock and ribbon. I don’t know why I have waited so long to play with this fantastic cardstock- the feel and texture is just terrific.

Whooooooo are You??? Well, now I have The Who in my head and will probably hum this tune all day long. I love when CSI comes on because I can count on a little impromptu dance from hubby- I think he likes the theme song more than the show itself!

We are cleaning the garage today- oh joy! We emptied the storage unit in Nashville a couple of weeks ago and unloaded it here in the garage. We are moving a lot of our furniture from Nashville next week (finally will have stuff in all the rooms here), so we need to make room for more stuff in the garage. Just doesn’t make sense, does it? I really thought garages were for cars, but hey, what do I know.

Take a look at the birdies in the WT gallery here.

Supplies: Stamps: Birds Galore by Inkadinkado, For Every Occasion by CTMH; Papertrey Ink Berry Sorbet and White cardstock, SU! Basic Black; Stazon Jet Black ink; Imaginisce Black Tie Optional designer paper; Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder; Papertrey Ink Berry Sorbet satin ribbon; Scallop circle punch; Black brads; Dimensionals.

Blessings,

Diane
